Charles Jonathan Greene passed away on Tuesday, August 14th of complications suffered from a heart attack. Chuck (don't call him "Charlie") was born August 26th, 1952 in Levittown, New York... At least we think it was Levittown. Chuck was one of those "I wasn't born in Texas, but got here as fast as I could" Texans... Chuck was preceded in death by his parents John and Lovie and is survived by his wife Rose. Brother Jay and wife Julie. Sister Cathryn and Vito. Step-son Caylan. Nephew Kevin and nieces Sandy, Amber and Avery. Chuck found live music, good beer, lifelong friends and the true love of his life in Austin. He proudly graduated from the University of Texas in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in Geological Science. Chuck worked for the State of Texas. Most of his career was the TNRCC (Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission). He shared a special relationship with his brother Jay, they weren't only brothers, but also friends. Chuck loved life and sports. He was an avid golfer, sailor, tennis player, skier, among many other things until Myotonic Dystrophy (a form of M.D.) came into his life. Nearly a 23-year Spurs season ticket holder, even it couldn't stop him from packing up his scooter and catching every Spurs Playoff home game, cheering them on to victory and then rewatching the game on his DVR when he got home. When he was unable to go out, he loved watching his sports at home, but he would turn it off in a heartbeat to watch cartoons with his 4-year-old neighbor, Arin, when she'd come to visit. He even let her call him "Chuckers." He loved to host his yearly Super Bowl party, loved playing poker with the guys, fantasy football, the Cowboys, Spurs, Astros, Longhorns and food with a nice cold "brew." Chuck was a Texan - more importantly, Chuck was an Austinite. Most of all, Chuck was an amazing husband, brother, neighbor and friend. It's been said that the true measure of a man is the life he lived. Nobody lived like Chuck. We won't be the same without him. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 17th at 7:00 PM in the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 3125 N. Lamar in Austin. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation. The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to lead and mobilize resources toward effective management, treatment and a cure for myotonic dystrophy through education, advocacy and research. Your contributions will help get us one step closer to a cure. <https://secure.groundspring.org/dn/index.php?aid=17263> Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
