

Charles Henry Perrone, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020. He died due to complications from dementia at the age of 80.
Charles was born to Joe N. Perrone and Vera Jim (Battles) Perrone on July 20, 1940. He was a 1958 graduate of Travis High School, and he married his high-school sweetheart, Judy Ann Ingram, on Aug. 30 of that same year. The couple had two children, Denise Perrone-Jantzen and Chuck Perrone.
Charles was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Navy for eight years on active duty and 19 years in the Navy Reserves. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1970. He also received a master’s degree from St. Edward’s University. Charles went on to work for the University of Texas System for 29 years, and he ultimately retired as the Director of Business Affairs at the University of Texas System.
In retirement, Charles and Judy enjoyed traveling, visiting some of their favorite destinations such as England, Scotland and Italy. Charles was an avid fan of baseball, especially for the Houston Astros, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Before his illness, he spent many happy days on a deer lease with his brother Dick.
Charles immensely loved his family and was most at home telling stories and jokes at family gatherings. He was especially proud of his five grandchildren – Garret, Leigh-Ann, Johnny, Jake and Caitlin. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren – Dylan, Valerie and Addie. A fourth great-grandchild is expected in October.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Vera Jim Perrone and his brother Joe Wayne Perrone. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Judy Ingram Perrone, brother Dick Perrone and sister-in-law Jeneva Perrone, brother Terry Perrone and sister-in-law Annette Perrone, daughter Denise Perrone-Jantzen and spouse Larry Jantzen, son Chuck Perrone and spouse Karen Strain Perrone, grandchildren Garret Toler and spouse Stephanie, Leigh-Ann Lucas and spouse Colin, Johnny Jantzen, Jake Perrone and spouse Holly and Caitlin Kennedy and spouse Paul. Charles also had three great-grandchildren – Dylan, Valerie and Addie – and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, Aug. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas. Social distancing will be observed and masks are mandatory. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1101 West New Hope Drive, Cedar Park, Texas. Social distancing will be observed and masks are mandatory. His interment at Fort Sam Houston with military honors will be held at a later date for immediate family.
Charles’ family and friends will always remember his booming laugh, his kind smile and his desire to give the shirt off his back. He will be forever missed immensely.
