

Chester Lee Foster, 87, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord September 22, 2007, surrounded by his wife of 60 years, Tiny, his children, and grandchildren. Born to Fred and Mary Jane Foster July 16, 1920, he was the baby of the family with three brothers and one sister. He attended Austin High School and played guard on the football team. Chester served his country in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the USS Northampton in the Pacific during World War II. He met the love of his life, Tiny, in 1946 and they were wed in 1947 and had four children. Chester retired as a manager from Centex Propane in 1984 with 35 years of service. He was a faithful member of Maybelle Church of Christ for 55 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Foster, Sr. and Mary Jane Foster, his brothers Fred Jr., James, and Raymond, his sister Julia Mae, his son Lonnie, and his great-granddaughter Ava Rene' Knippelmier. He is survived by his wife, Tiny Louise, his daughters Linda and her husband Duane Schuch of Round Rock, and Mary and her husband Virgil Peterson of Leander; his son Byron and his wife Pat of Leander; his grandchildren Brad Schuch and his wife Georganne of Round Rock, Tracy Schuch and her husband David Knippelmier of Leander, Brian Schuch and his wife Jennifer of Round Rock, Whitnie Schuch of Austin, Erica Peterson and her husband Rommel Briseno of Leander, Amanda Peterson and her husband Bill Rhoades of Thrall, and Dana Foster of Boone, NC; and eleven (and one on the way) great-grandchildren. Chester Foster was a great man with a big heart, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was a man of deep Christian conviction who lived what he believed, and he blessed all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the hospital staff of Seton and St. David's Georgetown, Lighthouse Hospice, and Royce Russell with Angel Healthcare for their care and support. We cherish the eight precious weeks you gave us and the opportunity to bring him home. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar Blvd., Austin.
