A 1983 graduate of Kiski Area High School in Leechburg, Pennsylvania, Chris went on to proudly serve in the United States Army with a tour in South Korea. After his military service, Chris married his high school sweetheart, Charlene (Reed) Crossan and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Finance from Arizona State University. Chris also lived in Tacoma, Washington, Atlanta, Georgia and Thousand Oaks, California before settling with his family in Austin, Texas in 2009.
Chris and his family enjoyed an active lifestyle. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, coaching and watching his children play sports, and above all traveling with them on vacation. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates Fan and a Terrible Towel could always be found nearby. Additionally, he looked forward to his trips back to Vandergrift to be with family and life-long friends. He will always be remembered by many as a kind, giving, and generous man.
For the past 16 years, Chris was the Global Chief Compliance Officer for Dimensional Fund Advisors, headquartered in Austin, TX, where he helped build the firm’s compliance program around the world. He developed an accomplished team of professionals and mentored many through their careers. Prior to that role, he was senior compliance officer for Invesco Institutional, and he served as branch chief for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Atlanta.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Hugh O. Crossan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Charlene (Reed) Crossan and his children whom he loved dearly, Christopher Michael Crossan, Michael Reed Crossan and a daughter, Emerson Rose Crossan. He is also survived by his mother, Arlene (Tardivo) Crossan who resides in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania and sisters, Colleen (John) Owens of Centerville, Virginia and Julie (Brian) Murphy of Clarksburg, Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces and nephews. He and his family are members at St John Neumann Catholic Church.
He will be dearly missed by many and forever in our hearts and memories. In lieu of flowers and gifts, a gofundme page has been set up for the Crossan Children College Fund.
