Chris Lane passed away on December 17th, his 25th birthday, at St. David's Hospital with his parents at his side. He was born on December 17th, 1984 in Austin, TX. Chris graduated from Westlake High School and attended Villanova University in Philadelphia. He cherished his many friendships and was a caring, compassionate and fun-loving young man who always made himself available to help a friend. His magnetic personality shined wherever he was. He was an avid sportsman who loved the time he spent with his friends fishing, hunting, camping and enjoying the lake. Survivors include his father Ed Lane, mother, Linda Lane-Filtsch, Stepfather, Frank Filtsch, and stepsisters and stepbrothers Carlyn Filtsch, Taylor Filtsch, Jared Mills, Drew Mills and Katy Mills as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Chris battled privately with a demon of which even many of his closest friends were not aware of the depth and severity of his internal struggle. Chris has now found everlasting peace and happiness and his warm spirit will continue to live on with his friends and family as he rests in the arms of the Lord. He touched many lives and will be missed by all of us. Chris chose to donate his organs so that others may live. Somewhere anonymously a recipient in need has received a heart of gold. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 22nd at the Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church, 4214 North Capital Texas Highway, Austin, Texas 78746. Friends and relatives are welcome at the service and a reception at the church immediately following the service.
