

Clayton Thoene, 80, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born in Uhland, Texas, Clayton lived a life defined by devotion—to his country, his family, and the simple joys that made life meaningful.
Clayton proudly served six years in the United States Army. His time in service reflected the strength, honor, and steady character that remained with him throughout his life.
For 50 wonderful years, Clayton was the devoted husband of Patty Thoene. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, loyalty, and commitment. Together they built a close-knit family that became Clayton’s greatest pride and joy.
He was a loving father to his daughters, Kim Thoene and Katherine Causey, and a respected and caring father-in-law to Cameron Causey. Clayton cherished his role as Papa to RJ Causey and his wife Michelle, Hunter Callen, and Shooter Callen. He was especially proud to be a great-grandfather to Elio Causey, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
Clayton found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved barbequing for family gatherings and spending time working in his yard, taking pride in keeping everything just right. Whether behind the grill or outdoors tending to his home, he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leonora and Albert Thoene; his brothers Roy Thoene, Raymond Thoene, Charles Thoene, and Robert Thoene; his sister Shirley Cox; his nephew Clayton Howard Stevens; his sister-in-law Carolyn Gober; his brothers-in-law Robert Dondlinger and Chuck Dondlinger; his sister in law Vicki Bishop; his father-in-law Bob Dondlinger; his foster father-in-law Daniel Gonzales; and his mother-in-law Mary Gonzales.
Clayton is survived by his beloved wife, Patty Thoene; his daughters Kim Thoene and Katherine Causey; his son-in-law Cameron Causey; his grandchildren and great-grandson; his brother Albert Thoene and sister-in-law Alice Thoene; his sister-in-law Dorothy Thoene; his sister-in-law Marilyn Thoene; his brother-in-law Claude Cox; his extended family including brother-in-law Bob Gonzales and wife Marjolaine of Idaho; brother-in-law Albert Gonzales of Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Clayton will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, deep love for his family, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. His life was one of dedication, service, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished.
His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the values he passed down to each of them.
