

He was born at home in Jones County, Mississippi on March 12, 1935; the first of eight children, to Daniel Clinton Sumrall and Alice Ordell Sumrall (nee Smith). Clint attended Union Grade School, Jones County High School, and Junior College in Ellisville, Mississippi. His calling and lifelong work was surveying and aside from working on his daddy's farm and driving the school bus in his youth, surveying was the only job he ever did. He worked for Cities Service, had his own business in Harlingen, Texas, and retired from the State of Texas in Austin, Texas in 1997.
Clint was preceded in death by his parents, his son Dirk Lee Sumrall, and his wife of 63 years, Margery Jane (nee Rich) Sumrall.
He is survived by daughters, Giselle Kinsell (David Kinsell), Lisa Campbell (Scott Dewey), and Allison Spence (Allen Spence). Grandchildren Jennifer Pena (Hector Pena); Daniel Storey; Amanda Soto (Juan Soto); Karri Spence, Audra Spence; Jessica Beebe (Ryan Beebe); Stephanie Jackson and Hayden Blecha. Eleven great grandchildren: Serena Pena, Siera Pena, Jayden Soto, Cy Soto, Avalyn Beebe, Maddox Spence, Kase Soto, Tobias Jackson, Matilda Beebe, Elias Jackson, Truett Beebe. He is also survived by his seven siblings: Bertha Cooley, Bonnie Hamby, Dale Sumrall, Mike Sumrall, Teddy Sumrall, Mary Sanford and Connie Shoemake as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Clinton will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.
