Cordelia Harwood Taylor

Cordelia Harwood Taylor, born to Winston and Augusta Harwood on November 4, 1925, in Harlingen, Texas, passed away on August 29, 2003. She was predeceased by her parents, and son, Timothy Hoskins Taylor. Cordelia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Col. Edward Hamilton Taylor of Austin; her son and daughter-in-law, Edward Hamilton Taylor, Jr., and Laura Taylor of Austin; son, Winston Harwood Taylor; son, Christopher Raguet Taylor of Oakland, California; granddaughters, Clara Lorraine Taylor and Anna Cordelia Taylor of Austin; and brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Puddin Harwood of Austin. Cordelia was voted Most Popular during her senior year at Harlingen High School. She was active as a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority while she attended the University of Texas, where she met her future husband, Ed. Cordie, as she was known to friends, had an exciting and interesting life. She and Ed raised their family in Japan, France and in several states across the U.S. As a military wife she endured long separations from her husband during WWII, Korea and Vietnam and ran a “tight ship” at home. Cordie was a wonderful mother and was always involved in her children’s various dramatic productions, musicals and sports events; not to mention the countless military receptions and social affairs. When Cordie and Ed were stationed in Japan, she was active in the building and establishment of a new Episcopal church for the international community in downtown Tokyo. She had an amazing gift for design and architecture. She could swing a hammer all day and then step out in the evening dressed to the nines!
