With deep sorrow and overflowing love, we announce the passing of Daniel Benjamin, who went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2025, at the age of 60. Born in Painesville, Ohio, and a long-time resident of Austin, Texas, Daniel lived a life marked by faith, service, strength, and love. He is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis; his three children, Joshua and his wife Sarah, Jonathan, and Shawnda; his beloved mother, Irma; and his brother, Frank and his wife Shannon. Daniel also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends whose lives were deeply impacted by his presence.
Professionally, Daniel retired from the State after 20 years of service as a CPA, before working as an accounting consultant for Goodwill. His attention to detail and work ethic were matched only by his integrity and kindness in every professional setting. But Daniel’s legacy goes far beyond his career. He lived a life full of purpose and was always looking for ways to serve others. Regardless of whether he knew them or not, Daniel gave of himself without hesitation.
He was strong both physically and spiritually. Daniel loved working out and staying active until the end. He enjoyed hitting the gym and doing spartan races with his son Joshua and golfing with his son Jonathan. At home, he was the one who could fix anything and valued helping his wife with home improvement or repair projects. As a father, he was present and involved, coaching his children’s baseball and basketball teams and cheering them on in every chapter of life.
Daniel also had a fun-loving side. He was known for making jokes and silly sound effects that brought laughter to any room and caused his family to roll their eyes with a smile, having heard them for the thousandth time. He had a warmth and charisma that made people feel seen, known, and loved. Daniel truly brought the joy of the Lord to his interactions with others.
A memorial service to celebrate and honor Daniel’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 25th at 11:00 AM at LifeFamily Chapel (8901 State Hwy 71, Austin, TX 78735), with a reception to follow at Bannockburn Baptist church, on the third floor of the Abbington Building.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House, in gratitude for the remarkable care they provided to Daniel and his family in his final days.
