Born in San Antonio, Texas on January 18, 1937, Danny went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2024, at the age of 87. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He
had a heart of gold and always a joke to go with it. At times Danny was referred to as the "Mayor". Everywhere he went, he knew someone and talked to everyone. Whether he
knew you or not. Danny never met a stranger.
Danny graduated from Fox Tech in June 1955 and joined the United States Air Force in July 1955. He joined the military to see the world! But after basic training he was stationed at
Lackland AFB ..... .in San Antonio!!! He said to himself "What a small world!" After San Antonio, he was assigned to Japan. From Japan, his next appointment was Hickam AFB Hawaii, then off to Barksdale AFB Louisiana. After both of those, he negotiated his next duty to Sheppard AFB where he met the love
of his life and married Sally! Soon after being married, he was deployed to Vietnam. While in Vietnam
Danny received a Commendation Medal. When he returned from Vietnam Danny
and Sally moved back to Lackland AFB San Antonio. For the
next 12 years the family traveled to Hahn AFB Germany, Travis
AFB California, Hickam AFB Hawaii and Bergstrom AFB
Texas where he retired with 26 years of military service. Danny
received the Meritorious Service Medal for his tours of duty. After his military retirement he worked and also retired from the State of Texas (Texas Railroad Commission and Texas Commission for the Blind).
Danny and Sally were married 59 years, traveled the world, gave a beautiful life to their family and had a ball! They loved dancing and spending time with their friends playing cards. Sometimes 7 days a week! Prior to Covid, there was the Friday morning breakfast club at Dan's Hamburgers. If you invited them to a party, they went! Even if they had just met you the day before.
Danny is preceded in death by his loving mother Brigida Mayfield, father Pasqual Guajardo, brother Joe Gutierrez, brother Arthur P. Terrell, son in law Chris Escalante.
Danny is survived by his loving wife and faithful caretaker, Sally Guajardo, daughter Carmen Escalante, son, Daniel Guajardo Jr., granddaughter, Desiree Alonzo, granddaughter Zoe Guajardo, great grandsons Brody, Riley and Luke. Brother George Terrell (Beebe), sister Suzie Terry along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring love and support. They would also like to thank St David's Northwest Hospital, Dr. Patel and Ashley and Encompass Rehabilitation Center.
We can't leave out the Austin Fire Department. They made many late night/early morning visits and handled Danny with loving care. He cracked quite few jokes with them also.
