As an Austin native, Dick attended Austin High School and The University of Texas. While in college, he played clarinet and saxophone in a local dance band – The Swing Kings - and also in Mel Sandlers college band. Dick married Gina Sandlin in 1951, and they raised a family in Austin.
For many years, he was the owner of Aus-Tex Garden Supply Company. After retiring, he enjoyed painting and traveling.
Dick is survived by Gina, his wife of 67 years; son Terry Wooten; daughter Cheri Jones (husband David); granddaughters Lauren Bockmon and Theresa Allen; great-grandsons Christian and Alex; and sister Jo Gorin (husband Bev).
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, 3125 North Lamar. A private family interment will follow.
