

Donal Roger Myers, 86 years old, of Austin, Texas passed peacefully in his sleep on November 2, 2016. He was born in Yale, Iowa on August 20, 1930. His parents were Dale Ralph Myers and Lucille (Mercer) Myers. He grew up on a small farm outside of Bagley, Iowa, where he attended school. He was married to Ramona (Marchant) Myers on June 21, 1947. To this union, three boys were born, Rickey, Michael and Dennis Myers. In 1952, they moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he was employed by Beatrice Foods. For 19 years, he was an award-winning salesman. On June 17, 1962, he married Joanne (Krause) Phillips Myers. To this union, Cynthia Lee Myers was born. He was step-father to Rita, Bruce and Kristi Phillips.
In 1972, they moved to New Braunfels, Texas where they managed the Gourmet Inn. In September of 1973 they purchased the Rex Motel in Edinberg, Texas. In 1981, they moved to Rydell, Georgia with plans to raise catfish, cattle and chickens. In 1984, they moved back to New Braunfels where they owned and operated the Hill Country Inn. In 1987, they retired and moved to Austin, Texas. He was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by Joanne Myers, his wife of 54 years, sisters, Nancy Sellers of Bagley, Iowa and Jean Laughery of Jefferson, Iowa, sister-in-law, Eunice Myers of Jefferson, Iowa, son, Rick Myers (wife Gracie) of Katy, Texas, daughters, Kristi Creech of Baker, Florida, and Cynthia Myers of Austin, Texas, daughters-in-laws, Sue Myers of Altoona, Iowa, Marti Myers of Des Moines, Iowa, Tina Phillips of Cedar Park, Texas, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in deaths by his parents, brother, Robert Myers, sister, Joyce Myers, sons, Michael Myers, Dennis Myers and Bruce Phillips, and daughter, Rita Phillips.
Funeral Services will be at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Drive, Austin, Texas 78757 on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 2pm.
