

Donald Gerald Perry “Uncle Donald” aka “Papaw”, age 80, of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Monday, March 7, 2016. He was born on October 5, 1935 in Chappell Hill, Texas to George Allen Perry and Byrdie Moody Perry. Known as hardworking and loyal, Donald worked as a printer with the Austin American Statesman and retired after 32 years of service. He was a good man who dedicated his life to helping others. Upon the death of his sister’s (Georgia Mae) husband in 1972, Uncle Donald stepped in and helped to raise his niece, Belinda Antolini Rico and nephew, Sam Antolini and continued to be there for both upon the death of his sister, their dear mother, in 1998.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Arnold Perry; older brother, Melvin Perry; and his sister, Georgia Mae. He is survived by his sister, Mary Rose Alcorn and his many nieces and nephews. Known affectionately as Papaw, Donald was much beloved by his many nieces, nephews, family members and friends and he will be greatly missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2016 at Sunrise Community Church, 4430 Manchaca Road, Austin with Pastor Mark Hilbelink officiating.
A Reception will follow immediately after the service at Sunrise. Interment will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Oddfellows Cemetery in Georgetown.
Honoring Donald as pallbearers will be Albert Garcia, Jacob Rico, Nathan Wilson, Steve Hanawalt, Jim Foulkrod, Ben Sorrels.
