Donna Sue McLeod was born on July 5, 1955, to Donald S. McLeod and Cecila E. Phelps in San Bernardino, California.
Donna embraced motherhood at a young age and went on to raise five children with love. Donna first met the love of her life, Kriss Kindred, in 1975 at a full service gas station, where their connection was instant. After their first date at the movies, they built a lasting friendship that blossomed into love. On October 24, 1992, they were married at their home in Dripping Springs, where they went on to share 28 wonderful years together raising their family.
Donna was special to so many people, each touched in their own way by her warmth and kindness. She loved life’s simple joys, wandering the renaissance festival, stopping to breathe in every pink flower she found, or sitting by the ocean and letting the waves bring her peace. She believed in leading with love and encouraged everyone around her to do the same. Patient and wise, yet always curious and open to connection. Donna carried both grace and humility.
She especially loved spontaneous drives through the Hill Country, afternoons spent thrift shopping, and swimming at Deep Eddy or Barton Springs. She found happiness in her garden, in live music, traveling, and camping. Some of her family’s fondest memories are of camping trips together, nights under the stars filled with laughter and love. Donna and Kriss shared a deep connection to the Hill Country, finding joy in Dripping Springs, Wimberly, and San Marcos - places that always felt like home.
Over the years, Donna worked in many roles including at Nutty Brown Cafe, Dillards, and the Salt Lick. She spent time as a server, in retail, housekeeping and later in home health care as an aide for the elderly. Through it all her greatest focus and joy was always her family who came first in her heart. A true social butterfly, she built lasting friendships in the music and art community and stayed closely connected with those she loved, considering her friends an extension of her family.
Donna is survived by her brothers, Walter William McLeod, John Long; sister in laws , Karen Kindred and Katrina Kindred; her her five children Marnie McLeod, Deja Pena, Jasmine Gold, Joshua Washmon, and Nicholas Kindred; and her fifteen beloved grandchildren, Katheryn, Marissa, Brieanna, Brianna, Danielle, Marina, Elias, Israel, Jaxon, Judson, Jameson, Oliviana, Jaydn, Isla, and Damien. She cherished Barbara, Bridgette, and Amanda as part of her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 28 years, Kriss Kindred; her sister, Kelli Butcher; her brother, Douglas McLeod; her parents, Donald W. McLeod and Cecilia E. Phelps; and her beloved son-in-law, Michael Gold, whom she adored and deeply cherished, and is now joyfully reunited with them both. Donna loved pink flowers, and in tribute to her favorite color, guests are encouraged to wear pink as we celebrate their lives.
