Dora Leona Emma Marburger Barber of Austin died peacefully on the evening of Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Hers was a life well lived, and she will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her infant twins James Manford and Jan Maureen, and by her husband Bernard Gerald Barber, Jr. Dora is survived by daughter, Sandra Barber; daughter, Deborah Chancey and her husband Don Chancey; son, Brad Barber and his wife Gwen Barber; and son, Mark Barber, and his wife Kimberly Barber; along with seven grandchildren and their spouses, and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday June 13, 2013 at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar in Austin. A reception is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday June 14 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2140 Allandale Road in Austin, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be held immediately afterwards.
Dora was born and raised in Williamson County and graduated from high school in Jarrell, Texas. She graduated as an RN from Seton Nursing School and retired from Seton Hospital after a lifetime of service to others. Dora was a faithful wife and mother, giving of herself day after day, year after year. She lived out the principles of her unwavering Christian faith. We will always remember her sweet disposition, thankful heart, and tireless love and care for us.
For those that desire, Dora left the suggestion for memorials to St. John's United Methodist Church, the Methodist Children's Home, or the Salvation Army.
