Doris Lanelle Parker Barber, 94, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018. Doris was born on August 27, 1923 in Austin, Texas to George Fox Parker and Era Estelle Gage Parker. She attended Austin High School graduating in 1941 and received an Honor Society Award.
Doris was employed for 34 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and achieved a position as an Executive Secretary. She was a lifelong member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and friend of 37 years, Howard A. Barber, Sr. Doris is survived by her sons, David L. Barber and Howard A. Barber, Jr.; grandson, Christopher A. Barber; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.
A Memorial Service honoring Doris will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Woodlawn Baptist Church at 4600 Manchaca Road, Austin, Texas. A Graveside Service will follow at 3:30 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to their close friend, Judy McCoy for all of her care and assistance given to Doris.
