(God Spoke and Said Come to Me, All of you Who Are Weary and Overburdened and I Will Give You Rest)
Doris Lucille Kellough Ellison was born to Obie Bowser Kellough and Clifton on March 23rd, 1946 and was the youngest of five children. She grew up in Austin, Texas, and graduated from Johnston High School in 1964.
Mom professed her love in Christ at an early age. She was an active member at 12th Street Christian Church, which later became Bethany Christian Church, from a young child up until 2001 when she found her new home with the Olivet Baptist Church family. She would then become a Mother of the church and known as Mother Ellison.
Mother Ellison always found a reason to stay busy. She was definitely what you would call a worker bee. She was referred to as “Queen B” amongst her children, grandchildren, and sons-in-law. Mom worked for the City of Austin Engineering, AISD, and Texas Commission on Environment Quality (TCEQ) where she retired. After retirement, she went back to AISD just to provide “extra” income for her grandchildren. By golly! Your grandkids have always been spoiled.
Mother was reunited in Heaven on May 9th with her parents, Obie and Clifton Kellough, her husband, Thomas Ellison, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Keilis Bedford; sister, Gladys Kellough; one brother, James Kellough, Sr.; nephews, Patrick Fisher and Michael Kellough, and both maternal and paternal grandparents. She leaves to cherish her loving and wonderful memories five children, Rhonda Shaw Bedford, Kim Shaw (Isaac), Victoria Shaw Mathis (Charles), Kevin Shaw, Sr. and Jessica Ellison (John); one bonus daughter, Engritt Brooks; two siblings, Vivian Gee (Franklin) and Joyce ‘Faye’ Fisher (Billy Sr.); eleven grandchildren, Keith Bedford, Krystal Bedford, Kevin Shaw, Jr. Tiesha Mathis, Isaac L. Nash, Anthony ‘Cj’ Mathis, Nathaniel ‘Jarius’ Clark, Victoria ‘Tori’ Nash, Nariah Clark, Ashley Grant, and Joshua Robertson; one special niece, Karen Gee; and two God-daughters, Latesha Bowser and Latasha Simms.
She also leaves to cherish her memories her aunty/mom, children, Denise White, Paula Graves, Paulette Ruff, Tammy Bowser, Elaine Douglas, Sharon and Princess Williams, Clara Bowser, Levi (Jr.) Bowser, and Bruce ‘Brucie’ Bowser, thirteen great-grandchildren with one on the way, and eight bonus grandchildren & a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
