

Doris Scott, 84, died November 20, 2012, at her residence at Regency Village Care Center in Austin, Texas.
Doris was born November 27, 1927, in Port Arthur, Texas to Nova Dobbs and Willie Pate Brookshire. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in January 1946, and attended Port Arthur Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Merchants National Bank and for the International Union of Operating Engineers. She retired from Jefferson County Sherriff’s Department in 1994. In 2001, she moved to Austin to join her grandchildren, Tyler and Caitlin.
Her sister, Mona Plagman and brother, Kenneth Ray Brookshire, predecease her. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Dengg of DelRay Beach, Fla., children Stephanie Scott of Houston, TX, Cindy Cannon and husband Gus, of Austin, TX, and Kent Scott of Vista, CA. Grandchildren Tyler Cannon and Caitlin Cannon of Austin, TX, also survive her.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Regency Village Care Center, who worked so diligently to make her last years pleasant. Our particular thanks to the dedicated nursing staff and to her aides for all of the love and attention lavished on her. Most of all, our appreciation goes to her good friend Tiffany.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 24th at 2pm at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752.
