

Dorothy Loretta Benson Helgren of Austin, Texas passed away in her “Happy Place” at home on Monday, April 17, 2023. She was born on December 17, 1931 to Charley Douglas Benson and Mary Ruth Duncan Benson in Austin. She spent her life in South Austin on Monroe Street, her childhood home, Clawson Road, beginning her married life, and her current home on Little John Lane.
She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry “Bill” Helgren, her parents, and all her siblings.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Deborah Richards, Brenda and Jay Voigt, Cindy and Keith Gray, her 5 grandchildren; Brandy and Royce (Shellie) Otto, Heath (Kristi) and Stason (Lauren) Kitchens and Trint Gray, as well as four great grandchildren; Kannin and Kolter Kitchens, Austin Otto, and London Knight.
She worked for several printing companies as a bookbinder. The first company she worked for was the night shift at Steck printing which is where she meet our Dad. Until their retirement, they continued to work together at several other companies.
After getting us girls thru school, she took on a secondary job with Home Interiors. She loved HOME decorating. Our home was a showcase of Home Interiors.
A short visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home 2620 S. Congress Ave, Austin, Tx 78704. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Cook Walden Capital Parks aka Capital Memorial Gardens 14501 N. IH 35 Pflugerville, Tx 78660.
