Dorothy Nell Oswalt King ("Dottie" / "Grannie Dottie"), born September 16, 1924 in Groesbeck, Texas to George Dewey and Clure Oswalt. She passed peacefully on the morning of November 25, 2015 at the age of 91 at her home in Austin, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Dottie was a graduate of Southwest Texas State Teachers College and attended Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ. She was committed to service and volunteering for the last half of her life, donating countless hours over 45 years at Seton Medical Center and serving in many capacities including president of the Auxiliary.
Her greatest achievement was as a mom, offering unconditional love to her family and their friends. She cherished her friendships and made a friend of everyone she met. She was a Longhorn fan and an avid supporter of Lady Longhorns basketball.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W King. Dottie is survived by her children, Bob King (wife Linda) and Linda Trenholm (husband John); grandchildren, Kodi, Kyle, Jennifer, and Nathan; and great-grandchildren, Abbie, Will, Viktor, Viktorija, Jacelyn, and Jolee.
Visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish, 3125 North Lamar, at 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 28th with funeral services at 1:00 and graveside services to follow at Austin Memorial Park.
Because of Dottie's love of serving at Seton, donations can be made in her honor to the SMCA Volunteer Services Department.
