
Dorothy Key Mallard Tinnin Dorothy Key was born May 17, 1917, in San Angelo, Texas, and died November 6, 2003, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 86 years. She was the eldest child of John P. Key and wife, Kate Yelverton Key. She was raised in rural Limestone County, near Tehuacana, and held BBA and MEd degrees from the University of Texas. She was retired from teaching in the Austin ISD and the Austin Community College, having primarily taught at Fulmore Junior High School and Lanier High School. She married Will Hardin Mallard in 1939 and had two sons, John Hardin Mallard and Timothy Meck Mallard. Mr. Mallard died in 1966, and she later remarried, to Marvin F. Tinnin, which marriage terminated on his death. She is survived by her sons, John and his wife, Marjean, of Centerville, Texas, and Tim and his wife, Patricia, of Coppell, Texas; her grandchildren, Joel Hardin Mallard and his wife, Stacy Mallard, and their son, Jacob Hardin Mallard, of Fort Worth; Emily Mallard Dorris and her husband Michael Dorris, and their son, John Murry (Jack) Dorris, of Bryan; Erin Elizabeth Mallard, of Austin, and Michael Hardin Mallard, of Coppell. She was preceded in death by her husbands and her sister, Mary Key Mefferd. Mrs. Tinnin was a life member of PTA, a long-time member of the Austin Womens Club, the Garden Club, had volunteered at St. Davids hospital, been active in the Northwest Austin Little League program when her sons were young, and had been a member of the University Methodist Church. She traveled widely but a special joy were family ski trips to Colorado with her grandchildren. At the time of her death, she had resided at Westminster Manor for several years. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 9, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue.
