

Edgar A. Knippa Edgar A. Knippa of Austin died April 25, 2005. Edgar was born December 21, 1918 in Austin, Texas. Except for more than 4 years in the Army during World War II, he was a life-long resident of Austin. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his two children, Frances Wukasch Knippa, in 1993, and also by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Knippa and 2 sisters, Evelyn Behnken and Doris Knippa. He is survived by his wife, Evelyne Marie Knippa, his daughter Janet Slack and husband Charles, and his son John Knippa and wife Arnette, all of Bastrop County. He is also survived by four sisters, Margaret Best of Bastrop, Elfrieda Eitelman and husband Arthur of Austin, Irma Koehneke of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Marilynn Beto of Austin; three grandchildren, Margaret Dixon and husband Paul of Houston, Eric Murray and Jonathan Murray of Austin; one great granddaughter, Emma Dixon of Houston; two step-daughters, Jan Steger of San Antonio and Kim Belmares of Austin; one step-son, Jim Bennett of Houston; and many nieces and nephews. For 55 years, Edgar was associated with the Kash Karry grocery stores in Austin, the firm that was founded by his father, A.C. Knippa, in 1920. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2005 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 3525 Bee Cave Road, Austin, Texas 78746.
