

Edmond Franklin "Frank" Hinds, Jr. of Lakeway, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008, after a brief illness. He has been a member of the Lakeway community since 2000, moving here from Baytown, Texas, where he lived since 1967. Mr. Hinds was a graduate of The Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree. He worked for Exxon Corp., in Baton Rouge, Houston, and Baytown, retiring after 36 years. Frank Hinds, born November 30, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama, was the son of Edmond F. Hinds, Sr. and Sue Price Hinds, both deceased. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Huie Hinds, whom he married on September 23, 1954. He leaves two sons, Christopher Neal Hinds and Gregory Scott Hinds, daughters-in-law, Kathy Hinds and Carol Stautner Hinds, and grandchildren, David, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Zachary, Alex and Rachel Hinds. Also surviving are one sister, Helen Carroll and her husband Huck, two brothers-in-law, Stell Huie and Jerry Huie and their respective wives, Madelyn and Shirley, along with several nieces and nephews. An Eagle Scout, Frank served during the Korean conflict with the United States Air Force. He was a Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Baytown. In 1993, he was elected to the Baytown City Council where he served as a member and as Mayor Pro Tem for seven years. Frank also served a term as president of the Goose Creek Country Club. In 2000, Frank and Barbara moved to Lakeway to enjoy retirement. Since the move, Frank has been active with the Men's Golf Association of the Lakeway Golf Club and also served on the Lakeway Parks and Recreation Board, Chaired the Ethics Committee and was a member of the Zoning and Planning Commission. As a member of the Lakeway Church, he served as Shepherd Leader and a substitute Sunday school teacher. Frank Hinds leaves a host of loving friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 30th at 2:00 P.M. at the Lakeway Church, Ron Kelling, Pastor. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lakeway Church Foundation or a charity of your choice.
