I moved to Austin in 1984, at 23, and soon was working with Julie at an office on Riverside Dr. Julie's mom was a close friend of my mom when they both were kids in Waco,  Texas. Of course Julie and Eddie soon had me under their wings. I felt so safe and happy around them.  Sunday mornings were very special, when I would go over for coffee and the Sunday paper. Good run, Eddie.  Until we meet again. Con Abrazos, Sandra Ponce-Fuentes.

I met Eddie in the mid-1970s.  One day, probably sometime in the 1980s, I was walking near my workplace in downtown Austin and I heard a voice calling my name.  I finally figured out it was coming from somewhere above me.  I looked up at the building under construction that I had just passed by and there was iron worker Eddie, laughing and waving.   He had the most infectious laugh.  It was impossible to hear it and not laugh too!!  That is what I will remember the most about him.  My condolences go out to Julie and  family. 

Eddie was a good friend. My sincere condolences to Eddie‘s family. 

I did not know Eddie, but I bet he was a good man to Julie and family. So sorry for your loss!


Eddie was a wonderful person.  He always made me laugh.  Once he approached my sister in law and looked her up and down.  He asked her if she was sure she didn’t have any “Mexican” in her.  She said absolutely not, I’m Irish.  He said, “do you want some “.  
Another thing I can say for Eddie, he married well.  Julie loved him during the good and bad times.  
I pray Eddie enjoys Heaven.  Friar Tuck Lane will certainly never be the same.

Eddie you will be  dearly missed. I knew Eddie for over 30 years he was a very caring person. He had a great sense of humor. You will always remain in our hearts. R I P Eddie

Grew up with Eddie at 1503 East 3rd St. We went to school at Our Lady of Guadalupe. We didn't have a lot but we had fun getting into trouble. He WAS my BROTHER . I won't ever forget his ways and his conversations we had about life. I can't imagine not seeing him anymore but rest assure he is happy as hell with his 4 parents, John Cantu, Bennetta Davis. Paul & Connie Candelas. Eddie, I love you now enjoy your new spiritual life in heaven. See u when I see you! Susan

My  dear cousin, I’m absolutely sure you will be as defiant in Heaven as you were in life. Your huge personality an contagious Laugh , will be enormously missed.  Forever LOVED.
