Butch was welcomed into this world on September 13, 1975, to Theresa Ann League and Edward Andrew “Andy” Duffer, in Pineville, Louisiana. Butch earned his nickname in tribute to his Uncle Joseph F. Basco Jr, who was killed in the Vietnam War in 1967.
The family moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1976 where he developed his life-long love for the beach. Butch enjoyed fishing, beach volleyball, surfing and all other beach-related sports and activities.
After high school, Butch moved to Austin to be closer to his Texas family and established a career as a Journeyman Electrician. Butch was an outdoor cooking enthusiast and he and his wife, Sarah Wilkinson, enjoyed hosting friends for BBQs, pool parties, and escaping to Port Aransas for relaxation.
Butch was a loving partner to Sarah Wilkinson, and proud father to daughter Rhylie Brice Duffer, son Peyton Ferguson and stepfather to Jamison Doss. His fur babies included Boudreaux, Gunnar, Radar, and Judy.
Butch’s family and many friends will miss and hold in their hearts his kindness, generosity, and wicked sense of humor. Butch is dearly loved and survived by his parents, wife, children, step siblings, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. A celebration of Butch’s life is being planned in the future near the ocean and the family asks that in lieu of flowers loved ones donate in Butch’s memory to the SPCA.org. or to any charity of their choice.
