

Dr. Edward Kent Stivers, Jr. Dr. Edward Kent Stivers, Jr. (85) of Westminster Manor, formerly of Lakeway, Texas, entered his Heavenly Home to join his wife Billye L. Stivers, on March 11, 2005. Ed and Billye enjoyed 56 beautiful years together prior to her death in 1998. Ed was born in Commerce, Texas on November 13, 1919 to Kent and Lucille Stivers, who preceded him in death as did his sister, Lillian. Ed entered the Marine Corp in December 1942 and served in Quantico, VA, Hartford, CT, Bethpage, NY, Patterson, NJ, Miramar, CA, El Centro, CA, Esprito, Santos, Guam, and El Toro, CA and was discharged March 9, 1946. He attended Washington Lee University in Virginia and received his B.S. degree. He was principal and coach at Red Oak High. Ed received his degree in Dental Surgery at The University of Texas and practiced in Kilgore and Houston for 31 years. Ed Stivers was a special person to so many people throughout his life. He initiated the 100 Club of Austin and was continuously involved up until his health failed him. He was the backbone of the Meals on Wheels program for all the years he spent in Lakeway. The Lakeway Church was also his home where he initiated the Palm Branch Holy Week, which will be celebrated this coming week. He spent many hours making his special JESUS plaques, which he handed out to hundreds of people. Many people have been blessed by Eds work these past years and he will be sadly missed by all. Ed is survived by his son, Edward K. (Chip) Stivers, III and wife Paula; daughter, Vickie Lynn Rathbun; grandchildren, Austin Stivers, Jessica Poindexter, Garret Stivers, Anthony Rathbun; and great-grandchildren, Patrick Stivers and Hannah Poindexter. A memorial service will celebrate Eds life at the Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd., Lakeway, TX 78734 on Friday, March 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Lakeway Church, Meals on Wheels, or the 100 Club.
