Elaine graduated from Stockdale High School and attended Texas State University. After having children, she returned to school and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She met her husband Bill in San Antonio, TX during World War II and they were married for 49 years. Bill and Elaine spent their married life and raised their three children in Austin. She was a librarian in Austin ISD for many years, retiring in the mid 1980s. Elaine was a long time active member and Sunday school teacher at the church of Christ in Hyde Park. She moved to Katy, TX in 2005 to be closer to family, but still considered Austin home.
Elaine stressed the importance of education to her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren who affectionately called her "Geen," were the light of her life and spent many weekends with her in Austin. They have many fond memories of her including her never ending stash of cookies, snickers, and Dr. Pepper. Most importantly though, Elaine found it essential to instill in her children and grandchildren the love of God and service to Him.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, her brother O.J. Weber and his wife Anne. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Mary Margaret Seifert.
She is survived by her son John and wife Marilyn of Katy, son Richard and wife Lisa of Tulsa, and grandchildren Brent Seifert and wife Jennifer of Katy, Andrea Walker and husband Murry of Round Rock, Laura Seifert of Katy, and William Seifert of Tulsa. She also is survived by three great-grandchildren Lily, Ella, and Jake Seifert, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family gratefully acknowledges the kindness and dedication of caregiver Muriel Franklin who made Elaine's last years so much more enjoyable and livable.
