Eliasar S. Cerda, Jr., was surrounded by his wife and 3 sons as he entered eternal rest on August 11, 2021, at the age of 63. He was the son of the late Eliasar H. Cerda, Sr., and Maria Sifuentes Cerda.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 47 years, “MaLady” Ellen D. Cerda, his sons Eliasar H. Cerda, III, Elias A. Cerda, Elisha J. Cerda, Sr.
Siblings: Joe N. Cerda, Albert Cerda, Ezekiel Cerda, Anna C. Hysaw, Sylvia C. Washington, Norma C. Washington.
Grandchildren: Eliasar J. Cerda IV, Rene Olivarez, Julius J. Cerda, Samuel J. Cerda, Ezra J. Cerda, Juliana Cerda, Alena Cerda, Giselle E. Cerda, Elisha J. Cerda, Jr., Amiah Cerda, Aiden James Ruiz.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1976-1982 and was honorably discharged holding the rank of Sergeant.
He served the City of Austin Water and Wastewater department for 9 years. He then transitioned to the semi-conductor industry from where he retired in February of 2019.
A family-oriented man, he loved his family dearly. He enjoyed his hobby of organic gardening and was excited for each harvest. His favorite hobby was barbecue. Many are going to remember him for his famous alligator head briskets. Above all, he was most passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to family, friends, and anyone who would listen.
Visitation for Eliasar will be held Friday, August 20, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas 78752. A graveside service will occur Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
Following the burial, a memorial service will be held at 11:15 am at Dayspring Fellowship, 5500 Avenue G, Austin, TX 78751. A reception will be held after service in the fellowship hall.
