Ella Mae Bartsch, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, February 10, 2025. She was born in Rockne, Texas, on July 10, 1928, to Pius and Sadie Goertz. She married the love of her life, Edwin Bartsch, on July 23, 1950.
She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Ignatius Parish for over 70 years. During that time, she was a member of the Ladies Club, served as a mass greeter, helped clean and decorate the church, and worked many years at the school cafeteria. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling with her friends, gambling, and spending time with family. She loved word search puzzles and watching Family Feud. Mom’s happiest moments were her Sunday family get-togethers. She loved bragging about how large the family had become.
Ella Mae was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, her sister, several brothers, and numerous in-laws. She is survived by her daughter Wanda Libbey, son Gary Bartsch (Janie), daughter Tammy Bradberry (Robert), and daughter Melanie Paidle (Tony), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Arthur Goertz, sister Joyce Schuelke (John), and sisters-in-law Ellen Goertz and Rose Goertz.
The family would like to thank the numerous staff members that took such loving care of Mom while she was at Brookdale Westlake Skilled Nursing. We would also like to thank the caregivers of Your Choice Senior Care for their compassionate care of Mom since she was home for the last three months.
Visitation will be Monday, February 17th at Weed Corley Fish South Congress from 5-7 pm, followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, February 18th, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 10 am, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery.
