

Elvia Garza, 84, of Austin, Texas and formerly of Houston, Texas, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012. She was born on March 2, 1928 in Frontera, Coahuila, Mexico to Francisco Ovalle and Josefina “Papi” Garcia Ovalle.
Elvia grew up in the Monclova, Mexico area and attended Business College in 1948 where she earned her business degree. After graduating and working in offices, she soon decided she preferred more labor intensive work so she got a job at a cigarette manufacturing company where she met the love of her life, Raymundo Jaime Garza. They were married in 1952.
In 1956 Elvia and her family moved to the United States and lived in many wonderful places until 1962 when they settled in Houston, Texas. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Houston.
Elvia had a passion for reading books of all types, cooking, shopping and she loved to travel by car or train. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and wife who will be dearly missed by everyone blessed to have known her.
Elvia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymundo Jaime Garza; brothers, Rolando, Arturo and Anibal Ovalle and her parents.
Elvia is survived by her son, Jaime Garza and his wife Laura; daughters, Elvia G. Busbee and husband Barry, Sonia Garza, Diana Ball and husband Howard, Nancy G. Rodriguez and Doris G. Hohertz and husband Jim; sisters, Marina Ovalle, Armandina Duron, Rosalba Ovalle and Imelda Ovalle; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Sr. Pastor Rick Randall of Austin Cornerstone Church officiating.
