

Elvin was born December 8, 1932 in Dallas, Texas and raised by his grandparents in Kilgore, Texas. He graduated from Leveretts Chapel High School. Following High School he entered into a 20 year career with the US Air Force serving primarily in Germany and at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Nalle Plastics in Austin, Texas. Then started a career as a Research Engineer at the UT Center for Electro-Mechanics also in Austin, Texas.
Elvin was never able to stay still, so when not working, his hobbies included wood working, custom gunsmithing, metal working and he was also an avid member of the Hudson Club.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Belle Taylor and grandparents, Mack and Catherine Mewborn, who raised him. He is also preceded by half-brothers, Kenneth and Wayne Taylor.
He is survived by his loving wife Edna Earle Estes of Austin; son, Elvin Estes and wife Teri of Georgetown, TX; son, Mark Czina of Katy, TX; step-son, Kevin Bell of LaFayette, LA; and step-daughter, Sherry Bell of Austin. He is also survived by grandchildren: Ashton Combs, Matthew Bell, Jayne Halford, Rebecca Halford, and Cody Estes.
Visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 3125 North Lamar, Austin, Texas. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday May 9, 2015 at the same location. The burial will be held Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Oak Bluff Memorial Park located at 618 Block Street in Port Neches, Texas.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association.
