

Enedina Escobar Garcia passed away peacefully Sunday September 5, 2021, at the age of 94. She was born May 14, 1927 in Uhland, Texas and married Antonio Cantu Garcia on August 27, 1949, he preceded her in death on December 15, 2006. She was very proud of her Escobar heritage and often spoke glowingly about her youth at “El Rancho.” Nina was a long-standing member of both St. Ignatius and San Jose Churches in Austin and was involved in various volunteering efforts in her lifetime. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and in her spare time, enjoyed taking her daily walks, gardening and corresponding with family and friends. Nina was a spirited and caring person who opened up her life and home. She was known for taking in company and provided them with comfort, conversation, and a good meal at a moment’s notice. Nina will always be remembered by the many lives she touched in and out of her home.
She will be deeply missed by her children Yolanda “Becky” (Scott) Gill, Mario (Jo) Garcia, and Jaime (Theano) Garcia. Nina was an adoring grandmother to Brittany Gill (Brady) Kirkpatrick, Michael Gill, Alec Garcia, and Alyna Garcia, in addition to her great grandchildren Ethan Barbosa, Jameson and Colt Kirkpatrick. Nina is also loved by numerous nephews, nieces and extended family whom she cherished. She is survived by sister Esperanza Escobar Castillo and was preceded in death by brothers Sam Cuellar, Oscar Escobar, and sister Eva Escobar Garcia.
