We welcome you to join us in celebrating the life of Enrique Morales Hoerster. Enrique was born on October 6th,1962 in Spain and was raised in Madrid by his father Enrique and mother Anne-Marie. Close in age with his sister Veronica, they were rarely apart throughout their childhood and teenage years, intertwining their friend groups. He was very proud of his Spanish-German heritage, relishing both jamon serrano and Pfannekuchen. In 1980, Enrique moved with his family to Mexico City, where he met and fell in love with his eventual wife, Alejandra.
The two bonded initially over their shared interest in Formula One, attending concerts together and stopping in small towns to visit every chocolate shop on road trips. A sure-fire way to his heart, Enrique was particularly raptured by Alejandra’s specialty Albondigas al Chipotle. “Gordo” and “Gorda” as they affectionately referred to each other, were married on December 3rd, 1993 and immediately started growing their family of five children: Ana Lucia, Alejandra, Enrique, Mario, and Daniel. Enrique specialized in international business and banking, living with his family in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Caracas before moving to Laredo, TX in 2003.
A well-travelled and cultured man, Enrique considered himself a foodie, especially when making the best paella to share with his loved ones at life’s milestones. He excelled at filling his family and all their activities in a minivan for road trips to the beach, soccer games or going camping. There was no architectural design, antique car, or fig tree about which he wouldn’t express his appreciation for its beauty, often accompanied by a strong opinion that sparked conversation. For example, he would complain about Ale’s driving when it was he who had taught her.
A man of many names — Quique, Morales, Mr. Worldwide, Mr. Incredible, el Tio Pelon bien Pelon — Enrique never passed up an opportunity for a good joke, lightening the mood at every turn while still expecting his kids to remain couth. His enthusiasm for life meant he required no coffee to fill every single moment with laughter or share his boundless love. A personification of his favorite saying, “Que Parezca Fiesta”, let’s make this look like a party.
In 2010, the Morales family relocated again within the US to Houston and then Miami before settling in Frisco, TX. Enrique especially emphasized the importance of spending time with extended family, and he loved kids more than life itself. At family gatherings, he’d be the first to hold a baby or befriend a nervous toddler. Excited for the upcoming birth of his first grandchild, he and Alejandra had recently moved to Austin in April to be closer to his daughters. On Monday June 2nd, 2025, Enrique suffered from complications of an aortic dissection. In the early hours of the following day, he passed away with his family present.
Papi, te extrañamos mucho. While our hearts ache in sorrow, they are also filled with gratitude for our years together and your everlasting devotion to us. Thank you for waking us up every morning singing, even during our teenage years. Thank you for bringing Lola into our family and taking her out to look for bunnies. Thank you for teaching us how to love others, making us the people we are today and being our best friend.
