Esperanza "Hope" Palacios

Esperanza was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on the 23rd of March 1924 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on the 21st of September 2011.

She met the love of her life, Jay Palacios, while he was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas; and after a 3-month courtship, they married on the 31st of July 1950. Esperanza and Jay moved to Austin, Texas when Jay was transferred to Bergstrom Air Force Base in 1970.

Hope was last employed by the University of Texas in Food Service Department. This is where she met and made several lifelong friends.

She and Jay recently celebrated 61 years of a wonderful marriage.

Esperanza “Hope” was preceded in death by her loving daughter Marcy Palacios Soper. Hope is survived by her husband, Juvenal “Jay” Palacios, her son, Patrick Palacios and 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes a special thanks to the hospital staff at North Austin Medical Center for their kindness and caring during this difficult period, with a special thank you to Ashley.

A visitation with the family will be held at five o'clock in the evening until seven o'clock, Thursday the 29th of September at Cook-Walden Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be conducted at ten o'clock Friday morning at San Jose Catholic Church.
