

Ethel Catharine “Cat” Thomas was born to the late Henry and Ethel Jackson, on June 15, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School. Ethel went on to further her education in the Job Core which was located in Oklahoma where she met the love of her life, Norris R. Thomas, Sr. Ethel and Norris were united in Holy Matrimony after a short courtship on July 4, 1969. To their union 4 children were added: Erika Lynn, Morris (preceded in her death), Zavian and Jerone. She was a dedicated and loyal employee of AMD/Spansion for over 35 yearsShe accepted Christ in the early 80s. Alongside her husband they founded Solid Rock Church of Jesus Christ from God in 1983. During her time in the Lord she was not only the Founding Mother and First Lady but she also served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Choir Director, Jr. Mission President and Drill Team Sergeant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Berry Jackson and Henry Jackson; two sisters, Audrey Harmanson of Port Arthur, Texas, and Velma Mckee of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Willie James and Clevon Jackson of Port Arthur, Texas; her husband, Norris Thomas, Sr.; one son, Morris Thomas; one grandson, Zavian Thomas; one great-grandson, Jamison Thomas; and two god children, Monique Cannon and David Johnson.She leaves to honor her memory, three children: Erika Lynn Thomas (Waymon), Zavian Thomas and Jerone Thomas; six grandchildren: Deonte Thomas, Damiciney Thomas, Devlyn Thomas, Deondre Thomas, Ashlynn Thomas, and Christopher Washington; six great-grandchildren: Journey Thomas, Josselynn Thomas, Kyrie Thomas, Maddox Thomas, Charlee D. Thomas, and Kehlani Thomas; one sister, Lillie Decuire (Austin); two sisters-in-law, Vanita Thomas (Dallas), Betty Jackson (San Antonio); two brothers-in-law, Keith Thomas (Mary) of Dallas, and Kenneth Thomas; ten godchildren: Shaniqua Hamilton, Christopher Howard, William Howard, Brinasha McKee, Clevon Harmanson, Honesti Cook, Dominique King, Tamiah King, Billie Rucker, Faith Williams.She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and sons, daughters, brothers and sisters in Christ.
