

He graduated from Odessa High School in 1958. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from University of Texas at Austin in 1962. Followed by earning his Master’s degree in Physics from University of Texas at Austin in 1963.
Scott was one of the founders and principals of Radian Corporation from 1969 – 1997, twenty-nine years of service with the title of Senior Vice President. After retiring from Radian, Scott continue to work and serve the public as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lower Colorado River Authority from 1999 to 2005. Tracor, Incorporated – Austin, TX 1963 – 1969, Manager of the Computer Programming Group and member of the Technical staff( left in 1969 to participate in the founding of Radian Corporation.
Scott belonged to the following professional Organizations: Sigma Pi Sigma – Physics Honor Society 1959 – 1963 – Officer and Selection Committee member; University of Texas at Austin Industry Advisory Board Member to the Department of Physics 1994-1995; Air and Waste Management Association – 25 years Chairman, Exhibitor Committee, elected for two terms; Association of Computing Machinery – 25 years
Scott belonged to the following Selected Organizations- Member of Texas Energy Planning Council – State of Texas special councils established by the Governor in 2004; Member of Texas Clean Coal Council – State of Texas special council established by the Governor in 2004; Member of the Board of Directors of the Lower Colorado River Authority from 1999 to 2005;Capital Area Transportation Coalition – founding member and Board of Directors of this organization in 2000; Vision 2010 – a private sector organization with a mission of “Selected Advocacy of Existing Visionary Plans” so that our Central Texas area can maintain the current quality of life while still experiencing economic well being.
Austin Area Research Organization – Retired member of this organization of business and community leaders committed to the economic and social wellbeing of the Central Texas area; Task Force of Austin Major Employers – active member from (1987 – 1997); City of Georgetown Economic Development Commission – two year term as Chairmen; United Way – Financial Advisory Committee – one year; Community in Schools – a dropout prevention program providing staff to work in the AISD schools as consultative assistance to the school system (1986 – 1991).
Scott is survived by his loving wife Dana and eight children; Cathy Rocco Box, daughter, Mike and Janet Holder, daughter, Walter, son and Rhonda LaGrone, Rusty and Julie Palmer, daughter, Paul LaGrone, son and fiancé Liz Martin, Lt General Gary, son, and Catherine Thomas, Don and Laura Massey, daughter, and Adam, son, and Kayron LaGrone, 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation held at Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd Austin, TX, Wednesday evening of November 4, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The celebration of his life will be held at the Hyde Park Baptist Church, 3901 Speedway, Austin, TX Thursday morning of November 5, 2015 starting at 10:00am.
