

Filomena Leos Leal, 81, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with Alzheimers on Thursday, September 11, 2014. She was born on October 12, 1932 to Cayetano and Santos Leos in Zion, Texas a small farming community.
She married Genaro Leal on October 17, 1951 in Seguin, Texas where they had two daughters and lived until moving to Austin, Texas in September 1970. She loved to travel with her husband to the Holy Land, throughout Mexico and a cruise to the Bahamas. She was quite active in several organizations at Cristo Rey Catholic Church prior to the progression of Alzheimers. Her greatest pride and joy was her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Genaro, two daughters Rafaela Leal, Gloria Dalgliesh and husband, Richard Sr; four grandchildren, Jessica Leal and partner, Becky Lego, Christopher Pierson, Anna Moreno and partner, Blake Jackson and Richard Dalgliesh Jr. and wife, Sheri; three great-grandchildren Tyler John, Riley Lynn, and Dylan Kennedy Dalgliesh. She is also survived by three brothers Jesus Leos Sr. and wife, Victoria, Juan Leos and wife Connie, and Albert Leos and sister Pauline Lopes; three sister-in-laws Gloria Leos, Emma Leos and Janie Leos and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cayetano and Santos, four brothers Agapito Leos, Jose Leos, Victor Leos, and Frank Leos, one sister Guadalupe Leos and one granddaughter Sarah Ann Dalgliesh.
Family extends their deepest gratitude to relatives, friends, staff of Hospice Austin, especially Debbie Cooper, RN and Dr. Tom Hill.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, on Friday, September 19, 2014 starting at 5:00 PM with the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM.
Mass will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jayme Mathias of Holy Family American Catholic Church officiating and Deacon Roy Gomez. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Christopher Pierson, Richard Dalgliesh Jr, Becky Lego, Blake Jackson, Michael Leos, and Jesus Leos Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jesus Leos Sr, Juan Leos, Albert Leos and Richard Dalgliesh Sr.
