

Forrest Kendall Foster, age 86, a longtime Austin resident, died on Sunday, September 28, 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, on January 1, 2001. He was born in Butler, PA on November 27, 1916, the first child of Frank F. and Grace M. Foster. He attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA where he received his BA degree in 1939. Forty-six years later, he earned a Masters Degree in the Graduate School of the University of Texas. He also completed the course work for his Doctorate, but did not complete the dissertation. During World War II Forrest served in the Air Force as an instructor in instrument flying at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. He married Helen Vorwerk, of the Richland Community in 1943. They were married for fifty-seven years. He worked in the printing industry until his retirement in 2002. He is survived by three daughters, Caroline Allen and husband David of Huntingburg, Indiana, Susan Epperson and husband Alvin of McDade, Texas, and Barbara Beery and husband Robert of Austin; two brothers, Hugh W. Foster of Chicago, Illinois and William F. Foster of Butler, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Grace Fisher and Allene Rattigan of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and eleven nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held. Burial will be at the St. John Evangelical Church cemetery in the Richland Community. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 oclock p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at First English Lutheran Church, 3001 Whitis, Austin, TX 78705, with Pastor Robert J.
