We celebrate the life of Frances "Eileen" Friesz, who peacefully passed away on August 7, 2024, in Austin, Texas. Born on December 2, 1937, in Houston, Texas, Eileen lived a life filled with love, faith in Christ, and a spirit of service.
Eileen was a devoted wife and mother who found her greatest joy in her family and friends. Her faith in Christ was central to her life, and she was an active member of Austin Baptist Church. She cherished the fellowship she shared with her church family and delighted in the simple pleasures of life, including time spent with friends, traveling, reading, playing bridge, and volunteering.
Her dedication to helping others was evident in her volunteer work at the Lake Travis Thrift Shop (Ladies of Charity) and as a former docent at the Houston Heritage Society, where she shared her passion for history. Eileen was also a member of the Houston Symphony League, where she served as president for one year, and she was an active member of the Houston Junior Forum, making significant contributions to her community.
Eileen is survived by her devoted husband, Marvin, who was the cornerstone of her life. They met when they were just 16 and enjoyed 68 years of a deeply fulfilling marriage. She is also survived by her sons, Russell and Mark, and her daughters-in-law, Agnes and Kim. She was a loving grandmother to Micah and Sarah, who brought her endless joy. Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved son, Randy Friesz, and we take comfort in knowing they are reunited.
Eileen was also deeply cherished by her close, adopted family, Elaine and Danielle Holman. Danielle lovingly called Eileen "Grammie," and Eileen loved them both deeply.
A service to honor Eileen’s life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Visitation will take place from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM. She will be laid to rest at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr, Austin, TX 78731.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National MS Society.
Eileen’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith in Christ touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy as a devoted wife and mother, and her cherished lifelong friendships, will continue to inspire and comfort her loved ones.
