

Frank Hutchins Gregg, M.D., of Austin passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2006, with his wife and children by his side. He was born on Oct. 10, 1929, in Austin, Texas, to Dr. Francis Banner Gregg and Isabel Hutchins Gregg. Dr. Gregg attended the Austin schools and was an honor graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He also graduated with honors from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston in 1956. Following an internship in Galveston, Dr. Gregg's residency in Ophthalmology was completed at the State University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. After two years in the United States Air Force, he and his family returned to Austin, where, as a fourth generation physician, he practiced Ophthalmology for thirty years. During this time he was also a consultant at the University of Texas Health Center, Austin State Hospital, Travis State School, and the Austin State School. After retiring from private practice, he became a consultant at the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Beverly L. Gregg, and his three children, Cindy Ann Koplin of Alaska, Sally Leigh Acevedo of California, and Frank Hutchins Gregg, Jr., of Austin. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Paige, Mollie, Leeann, Lewis, Maggie, Michael, Shannon, Lauren, Tyler, and great-granddaughter, Alicia. Nieces and nephews include Linda Hawkins, Fred Werkenthin, Jr., Becky Nugent, and Gregg Werkenthin. Dr. Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Banner Gregg, Jr., and his sister, Mary Margaret Werkenthin. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A private family burial will be followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
