

Minister Freddie Futcher was born June 28, 1950 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He came to Austin, Texas to attend Huston-Tillotson (College) University and graduated in 1976.
Freddie retired from the Texas Railroad Commission after 25 years of service. He also worked for the Austin Independent School District for 10 years and retired when he became ill.

Freddie was baptized at Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church, July 21, 1991. He accepted his call to the Ministry and was licensed to preach the Gospel, August 22, 2004. He served faithfully in several ministries and auxiliaries at Zion Rest, which included the Prison Ministry, Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School, Prayer Meeting, Bible Study, Home Visits, Male Chorus, Sanctuary choir and assisted the Pastor when needed. He also attended the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF).
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Lillie May Futcher; his Sister, Eddie Pearl Futcher-Clark; two brothers, Obie and Emmitt Futcher.
Freddie leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Bettie Futcher; sons Ryan and Travis Futcher, step- daughter Therese Felder (Andre) and step-grandson Tyrese Ward. He also leaves to cherish his memories a brother, Eddie Futcher, Jr. (Robin) and four sisters, Dora Newton Brown (Ted), Sandra Beard, Sheryl Beckford and Eula Stennett, and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
