Freddie grew up in Taylor, the youngest of a large, strong German family. Freddie married Bob on January 24, 1942. They made many homes during their first years traveling around the States following Bob’s work as a civil engineer, and ended up settling in Austin after the War. Their family grew to include a son, Robert, Jr., and a daughter, Betty.
Bob and Freddie were lifelong members of and were instrumental in starting Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin. After they retired, they enjoyed their life with family and friends. Freddie lost Bob six years ago but continued to enjoy her recent years, up to and especially her 90th birthday celebration with her family two weeks ago, including the newest member, Max, just two weeks old. She was cherished and will be sorely missed by her family, Bob and Gerry Beckham, Betty and Hal Meyer, and grandchildren, Dustin and Sophia, Jon, Joe and Trisha, Stephanie and Cole, great-granddaughter Mattie, and great-grandsons, Beckham and Max.
Our family gives special thanks to Margie Ford, a constant companion to our mother in her last years. She brought hope and joy to our mother’s life every day, giving of herself so our mother would be comfortable. Freddie’s family thanks Dr. Leong and the cardiac staff at Seton Hospital for their compassionate care. Above all, thanks to the staff at Christopher House for the tender and loving care they gave Freddie.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Christopher House or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Freddie’s life will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, Saturday, the 5th of February, at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
