My sister and I used to hit the Austin clubs back in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, just to hear the good country music out there!  We ran across Jess one night, and got to know him.  He was a very sweet, calm natured man who I remember loving God.  He was very even keeled, and had a sweet aura about him.  
I remember when he told us the story about getting in his motorcycle at 6:30 one morning to go to work, not seeing that a rattlesnake had curled up on the gas tank.  It but him on the hand, and put him out of commission for a short while.  We’re worried he may never play again, but just a few months later, he was back it!  He was able to still use his hand!  
He was such a sweet spirit!  We always go looking for him, just to say Hello!  
I had been having him on my mind the last few weeks and decided to look him up on the Internet tonight.  I did not know that he had so recently passed away, not that he lived in our little town of Manor!  If I had known he was so close, we would have surely paid him a visit.
So happy to hear that he is with Jesus tonight!  Jess, we’ll see you soon!  Much love to you!

When I was a Freshman at Concordia Austin, Texas, Fred was a year ahead of me.  One day he said he had written a song for me called, "Little Rebel". That was the title he said because Paula meant small or little and Marie meant Rebellious. He played it for me....I wish I had asked for a copy! He was very shy and sweet then. I glad he remained that way....

In 1956 I was a 9th grader at Concordia High School in Austin,Tx.  Fred was in 10th.  I shared time with Fred over the next 65 years.  He will forever have a place in my heart as I draw on memories of those times, to be uplifted emotionally, musically, and spiritually.  Richard Giro.

I'm so sorry to hear about Freds passing. I have such a wonderful memory of him. I met him through my dad Dr Richard Dinda. But I know him as Jess Demain the singer. He was the the highlight of the reception of my wedding 40yrs ago.  He sang and we all danced the night away. My favorite part was when my now husband of 40years and Fred sang Elvira together. ❤  He was such a gentle soul. Till we meet again.  Blessings to the family 

I am so thankful for Fred's witness through a life of joyful service!  I had the privilege of working with him at Concordia University and singing with him.  The Home/Away Medley and Gone Home were some fun songs we did that highlight being with Jesus forever in Heaven!  Can't wait to see him there.  Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, and we rejoice that Fred has gone home to be with Jesus and we will join him someday!

I’ve known Fred since 1970.
I met him at south west Texas state in San Marcos, where he was an all-American tight end on a national championship football team.
We moved to Austin in 71 where we shared an apartment and worked as carpenter framers and played nightly at various venues.
He built a studio on the premises and had one of the first 4 track recording studios in the area.
We had several years together. He was my friend, my mentor and my brother.
I had the privilege of knowing his parents and family. He was also loved dearly by my parents and family, as well as many of the SWT students and friends we met along the way.
We laughed and cried together. Won and lost… took our first trips to Nashville together.
Fred was bigger than life. He loved to joke and laugh.   Oh did he laugh.
I saw him in his good times and his sad times.
I’m proud to have known him and grow with him.  
I love you my brother.  I only hope I get to be his bass player in heaven.

Fred was a gracious, wonderful man and a friend to so many. I first met him in 1974 at El Paso Cattle Company when the country bands we were in played a dance.  Several years later, we discovered that we shared the same birthday and began to play music together and travel to the coast for fishing trips. He was a dear friend and as late as this past August 3, sent birthday wishes. He told me previously that he was ready to join Jesus in Heaven. I know he is rejoicing there with his wife and family. May God bless and keep him. Love you brother!

Fred is a great friend and truly my brother in Christ.
I met Fred at Concordia in the early 90's while working at Concordia University.
Great carpenter and he taught me how to fix things that need to be repair. Later, I found out that he's a musician and a great one! I learned how he can record songs from his home music studio. He will be missed but I rejoice with him to be in a wonderful place in Heaven to be with God and his loves one. Now, he is walking, talking, playing music and praising God! Thanks for a great memories being around you!

Fred was a great friend who worked on the staff at Concordia University Texas when I was a professor there.  In the early 1990s we started a musical group known as the Oak Wilt Boys comprised of folks on the Concordia campus.  Originally consisting of David Kroft, Martin Doering, Robert Achterberg, Fred Frieling, and myself the group later changed somewhat as original members left for other places.  The impact Fred made on our campus and within our group was amazing as his talent of voice and keyboard was the central focus of our performances in concerts around the state and in recordings we made.  What a blessing he was and what a legacy he left with his life's work!  Praise God for who he was to all of us!  May He now rest in the everlasting arms in the Savior he loved.
