

Gail Garcia Limón was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Gail will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Gail was born on May 2, 1936 in Austin, Texas. She was the daughter of Manuel & Amanda Garcia. Gail grew up in Austin Tx.
Gail was raised with 10 Siblings - she was #10 of 11 children. Manuel, Eva, Elizabeth, Ruth, Innocencio (Chente), Augustin (Gus), Ruben, Neftali, Nora, David. Gail was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Gail had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Austin High School in 1955. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Gail enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. Later in life, she became friends with Betty Jenkins, Gladys Guajardo, Mary Davila, Socorro Leos, Olga Perales- Liz Torres, Doris Breed, Alice Matthews and many dear friends from work at Texas Hospital Association.
On July 26, 1958 Gail exchanged wedding vows with Joe Vasquez Limón at her brother's backyard in Austin, Tx. Empathic and loyal, Gail was committed to making her new family happy.
Gail worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Gail is survived by her two loving children; Melinda Limón Sanchez, husband John Luke and David Limón, wife Sonia. Gail was also blessed with the gift of three grandchildren, Avalon Sanchez, Presley and Quentin Limón.
Fortunately, Gail enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Gail worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was Bookkeeper. She was employed for many years at Texas Hospital Association. Gail always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Gail enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were cooking home cooked meals for her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to luncheons with her friends, go dancing, watching Bonanza, novellas, and Ellen Degeneres. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Gail found pleasure in sports. Gail was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. Tops on her list were Texas Longhorn Football Games - "Hook Em".
Gail enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations were with friends.
When Gail’s retirement finally arrived in 1980, she was well prepared. She retired in Austin. In retirement she found pleasure in going to group luncheons, keeping in touch with friends,. Even in retirement, Gail continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. Gail was active in her new community and felt fulfilled with the opportunities retirement offered her.
Gail passed away on June 15, 2022 at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center. Gail died of natural causes. She is survived by her children, Melinda & David, her grandchildren: Presley, Avalon & Quentin.
Simply stated, Gail was a good and kind hearted person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Gail leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Gail Garcia Limón.
A memorial service for Gail will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750.
