The Heidelberg High School graduating class of 2000 was a close-knit group which has maintained friendships for 21 years.  My son, Mark Brewer, had many good friends, and Gary was one of my favorites.  Gary always smiled, laughed, and told funny stories around us.  I always looked forward to having him come to our house, and he always made us feel that he was glad to be with us.  I visited with him several years later in Iowa City, and his exuberance at being together with us had not changed.  Gary was excited about his work and so enamored with and proud of his toddler that I liked him even more for the man he had become.  He was a bright light in our lives, and I'm so happy he shared what he could with us.  His passing is a loss to us all.  We love you, Gary.

i  just heard of Gary’s passing. i’m still in shock and just can’t believe my ears and my eyes. Gary and i went to school together we became really good friends. i’ve been trying to reach out to family members or other friends that he has to find out what happened, i know this is a time in mourning, but i’m falling apart here not knowing what happened to my friend. Please let me know, anybody and where he’s later to rest. Here is a picture of us together when we were in school together. RIP bud, you’ll FOREVER be in our hearts. 

Gary was a great person and had an awesome personality and sense of humor. He was super down to earth and he never judged anyone. He will truly be missed. My condolences go to his children  and family.

Gary's unconditional love and acceptance of everyone always made him the most chill and loveable person around. Everyone had a good time around Gary. He had an exceptional sense of humor and one of my favorite memories with him was driving through Heidelberg in his signature orange VW while singing Cake or Weezer at the top of our lungs. I was going through several frustrations and negative emotional spaces, and he easily helped melt them away. I can only imagine how many lives he's touched and how many people will miss having fun with him. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. We will all miss him.

Kim and Gary had lots of good times in Ketsch and Heidelberg, and he was a true friend to her.  I am so sorry for your loss.  My deepest sympathies. Kim's Mom
