Gay A. Burkett

Gay A. Burkett was born September 27, 1930 to Enla Morgan Lancaster and Albert Newton Lancaster, the ninth of ten children, in May, Texas. She passed away May 18, 2013 in Atchison, KS. Gay was preceded in death by her husband David Warren Burkett, granddaughter Laura Kaitlyn Burkett, and all of her brothers and sisters.

Upon marrying Warren on August 21, 1953 in Lamesa, Texas, they moved several times, living in New Jersey, Virginia and Kentucky, and lastly Austin, Texas.

Warren pursued his journalism career while Gay’s vocation became her family and home. Gay lived in Austin 30 plus years, enjoying being close to her son, Karl Burkett, his wife Becky and their children Aaron, Laura, and Timothy, the Lancaster and Morgan clan, and all her Friends before moving to Kansas in the fall of 2012 to live with her daughter Trish Bishop, her husband Tom and their children Chester and Jocelyn. We will all miss her so much!

Visitation will be at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday 3rd of June 2013, followed by a Memorial Service in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas
