

Gloria Louise Blakely nee Willmon, born in Weatherford, Texas October 30, 1920, died September 10, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons and a great grandson. Leaves behind three sons, a daughter, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Gloria attended and graduated from both Weatherford College and the University of Texas, graduating with 2 degrees. She was an Oak Leak Queen at Weatherford and a BlueBonnet Belle at UT.
A military wife, Gloria accompanied her husband all over the world, moving 24 times in 23 years. Many times she was drafted to teach in local schools. She was a Girl Scout Leader, hosted teenage hangouts and later was an instructor for the IRS. She was a PTA president, an Eagle Scout Mom and launched a small business with her children. Later with sons in the Air Force, she was an Air Force Mom sending out care packages.
Gloria was an avid dancer, with her husband dancing six nights a week, frequently at the Broken Spoke. Later she was a member of the Rocking Chairettes, a group of senior women that performed at various retirement centers and convalescent homes. They would line dance or do sing-alongs. She was with them until shortly before her death.
Gloria was a strong Christian, a member of the Cornerstone group at Austin Oaks, a distinguished Alum of Weatherford College and a supporter of the AC Village, an Advent Christian home and orphanage in Florida. She is greatly beloved and will be missed.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2014 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
