He was born in Okolona, Arkansas on November 7, 1925 to Henry Weeks and Sarah (Hughes) Weeks, the 8th of 9 children.
After high school, Harold enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Berlin Air Lift stationed in Rothwestern Air Force base, where he met his future bride, Gisela Brencher. The Air Force took the family to many wonderful places where they made so many friends but after retirement, Harold and Gisela retired in Kassel until their final move to Austin, Texas in 1990.
Harold had a quick wit, loved gardening, visiting with relatives but most of all, he loved his family and took great pride in them. He was preceded in death by his wife Gisela and is survived by his sister, Dean Johnson of Oklahoma; his son, Michael Weeks and his wife Bettie Simpson-Weeks; Grandchildren, Bethany Spivey and her husband Terry Spivey of Austin; David A. Simpson of San Antonio; Philip Simpson and his wife Karen Simpson of Seattle, WA; Great-Grandchildren Clint and Gavin Spivey; Matthew, Joshua, Samuel and Rachel Simpson and Lillian Simpson.
The family extends their heartfelt love and gratitude to Sylvia and Pete Diaz (Fairmont House) and to Connie Nunez and Helen Sanchez who cared for Harold during the past years and who welcomed him as a member of their loving family. The family also extends their deepest appreciation to the staff of AseraCare Hospice.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
