He was born on July 9, 1942, in Mills County, Texas to Fielden Homer and Gladys Edgerton Hibler. He was raised in San Saba, Texas, and graduated from San Saba High School in 1960. He met and married Linda Gayle Smith on December 22, 1962. They lived in Austin, Texas and had two children, Jana Leigh and Leslie Dean.
Harry attended Durhams Business College and worked in the hardware environment for many years, working for Walter Tipps, Wyeth Tx Hardware and Tipps Iron and Steel. He enjoyed traveling around the US with family to almost all the states and would collect ferns during these road trips. He never missed a chance to watch UT Longhorn sports on TV. He was always at the softball and baseball games of his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed cooking and being out in the yard doing yardwork. He loved animals, especially dogs, cats and birds. There were even a few ‘questionable decisions’ made at the border! And he always wanted a monkey and a bobcat. Later in life he had an affinity for cast iron pot belly stoves.
Harry is survived by his wife Linda Gayle, their two children Jana Opheim and Leslie Hibler (Jocelyn), grandchildren Brandon Opheim and Emily Brewer (Jeff), step-grandson Hunter Dowd (Laurie), and great-grandchildren Hudson and Beckham Brewer and Rowan Dowd. Harry leaves behind siblings Jean Givens, Keith Hibler (Pamela) and Carol Burke. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Sadie Coleman and brother Larry Hibler.
