

Harry Lansberg passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009 after an extended illness. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 11, 1929 and was the only child of Rose and Abraham Lansberg. He lived in San Antonio since 1933. After graduating from Brackenridge High School in 1947, he attended the University of Texas at Austin. In November 1951, he was drafted into the military and proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, Ms. Lansberg worked at Kelly Field and Randolph AFB as a draftsman. Later in life, he volunteered many hours assisting the staff at Longfellow Middle School and also gave more than 1500 hours to the Audie Murphy VA Hospital. Mr. Lansberg is survived by his daughter, Shoshanna Lansberg and son-in-law Jeff Schwartz and granddaughters Eliana and Gabriela of Austin; his son Abraham and daughter-in-law Erika and granddaughters Faith and Bella of Edmond, Oklahoma; and daughter Deborah Lansberg of Austin. A graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road on Friday, October 16 at 9:30 a.m. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Extended Care Therapy Center (ECTC Unit) of the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital for their dedicated care for Mr. Lansberg. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
